Notes:
One of Design Power’s guiding principles is that the Customer has to stay in control of his knowledge. In order to ensure that this is the case, the customer needs to be intimately involved in the capture of the knowledge into the system and in the development of the knowledge-based solution.
Therefore Design power divides the development project into three phases: The Technology Transfer Phase; The Implementation Phase and the Sustaining Phase.
During the Technology transfer phse the focus is on training the customer’s product experts in the knowledg capture methodology and in the mechanics of the product. Design Power is heavily involved in this process. During this phase also the first pass specification of the “Product Structure” and the development project are defined. This is the start of the implementation phase.
During the implementation phase the learning process continues through on-the-job tutoring by Design Power. Design Power, is also heavily involved initially in the definition of the product model. But sooner or later during the Implementation phase the customer becomes self sufficient. During the implementation phase the system is deployed in production. This varies with the customer and his initial capabilities and available resources.
The underlying product is evolving with time also. If everything goes according to plan the customer is, by that time, fully equipped to do the corresponding changes in the automation system.
