Design++ is also the foundation for a commercial end-user application product for conceptual plant design: Bentley PlantWise®.
History (a short version)
Design++ was born from pioneering work in knowledge-based engineering, with a mission to automate and optimize complex industrial design. This work evolved into a dedicated company applying model-based reasoning to some of the world’s most challenging engineering problems.
Operating from the San Francisco Bay Area, Design Power, Inc. delivered advanced design automation solutions to leading global organizations, including Fluor Corporation, General Electric (now Baker Hughes), Halliburton KBR, Bayer, Cisco Systems, Emerson Motors (now Nidec Motor Corporation), and Robertson-Ceco (now Cornerstone Building Brands).
Bentley Systems acquired Design Power in 2007 to accelerate the development of Design++-based applications such as PlantWise.
Today, Design Power operates as an independent company, building on decades of proven innovation to help customers engineer better systems – faster, smarter, and with confidence.
